Dr. Jasmeet Singh

Dr. Jasmeet Singh is currently working as Assistant Professor in Computer Science Engineering Department, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. He obtained his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in computer Science & Engineering from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, India. He obtained his Ph.D. from Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. He has more than 13 years of teaching experience. He has published a number of research papers in reputed International Journals in the area of Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval. He worked as a Postdoc fellow with Professor Raja Giryes in the department of electrical engineering Systems, Tel Aviv University (TAU), Israel from January 2020 to December 2020. During his Postdoc, he had been working on a collaboration project between Tel Aviv University, Israel, and Wipro Technologies, Bengaluru, India entitled “Misspelling Oblivious WordEmbeddings” in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning. The long-term goal of the research was to develop word embeddings models that are oblivious to the misspelled words in the text especially for social media language such as Twitter which has no formality – do not follow any specific grammar, spelling rule. The knowledge of these models can be used for word sense disambiguation and a number of NLP tasks as Sentiment Analysis, TextClassification, Machine Translation. During the Postdoc period, they developed a framework that learns word embedding from an unannotated corpus and balances the representations of misspelled words with the correct ones using the combination of contextual knowledge from the corpus and approximate string-matching techniques.

Dr. Sangita Roy

Dr. Sangita Roy is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. She did her PostDoc under the supervision of Prof. Yuval Shavitt, Tel Aviv University. She did her Ph.D. from IIT Patna in the year 2016. Her area of research interest is Network Security, Deep Learning, IoT.

She had research work on the Type of network traffic classification or application identification that has several advantages in the access networks for end-to-end communication management and measure such as resource allocation, intrusion detection, QoS-sensitive application like online gaming, etc. The rapidly changing nature of applications, even different versions of the same applications, presents a challenge for traffic classification techniques. The goal of the current research is to introduce a new approach for encrypted traffic classification and application identification with low computation. Many approaches have been introduced in this area but in most cases, there is a requirement of high computation power though the system achieved high accuracy of classification.
